LinkedIn Sales Navigator vs B2B Data Providers: Which Is Better for Prospecting?

    by | Oct 07, 2026 | Data | 0 comments

    Last updated: September 28, 2026

LinkedIn Sales Navigator added a long list of tools during 2026. Account IQ and Lead IQ summarize a company or a person in one click, Message Assist drafts a first InMail, a new filter finds people who viewed your company page in the past 90 days, account searches can be shared with teammates, warm introduction paths appear inside search results, and key alerts now show up in LinkedIn notifications and, on Advanced Plus, in Microsoft Teams. A Sales Assistant agent is in limited beta.

All of that supports research and first messages. Is it enough to run prospecting? Outreach needs an email address or a phone number, and LinkedIn’s help center says a member’s contact details are visible to first-degree connections, and only when the member chooses to share them. Sales Navigator also has no CSV or XLS export.

Short answer: teams that sell by email and phone need contact records first, and a B2B data providers supplies them. Sales Navigator then adds research, warm introductions and LinkedIn activity signals.

What is new in LinkedIn Sales Navigator in 2026?

LinkedIn’s release notes and product pages list these 2026 changes. The AI features come first, followed by introductions, the quarterly releases from January to September.

    Update What it does Plans
Account IQ and Lead IQ One-click summary of a target company and of a single lead Advanced, Advanced Plus
Message Assist (public beta) Drafts a first InMail from the account and lead summaries in select languages Advanced, Advanced Plus
Sales Assistant (limited beta) AI agent that reviews 63M+ decision-makers on LinkedIn, suggests prospects with the reason each fits, shows warm paths and drafts messages. English only Select customers in the beta
Shared account searches (January to March) Send a saved account search to teammates inside Sales Navigator Not stated by LinkedIn

Company page viewer filter (April) Lead search filter for people who viewed your company page in the past 90 days. Only members who opted in appear All plans, per the September release notes
Cross-company Relationship Maps (April, extended in September) Puts contacts from a parent company and its subsidiaries on one map Advanced, Advanced Plus
Salesforce security changes (May) Admins turn on two new Salesforce security settings, PKCE and Refresh Token Rotation. A seat with no Salesforce activity for 30 days disconnects until the user reconnects, and the data stays Salesforce CRM Sync users
Warm introductions in search (September) Badges on propsects in search, a ranked list of paths in with the reason for each, and an account view of paths to leadership All plans
Smarter search (September) Describe the buyer in plain words. When a search returns nothing, Sales Navigator shows the closest matching profile and names the filter it changed All plans

Activity logging controls (September) Admins switch notes and call logging on or off for every user Advanced Plus

None of these entries adds an email address or phone number to a lead. LinkedIn’s descriptions of the AI features cover summaries, message drafts and lead suggestions.

Sales Assistant is open to a select group of customers, in English, and LinkedIn says the seller reviews each drafted message before it goes out. LinkedIn plans a wider release.

How much does Sales Navigator cost in 2026?

LinkedIn lists these US starting prices on its plans page, updated August 1, 2026. Prices may exclude tax and promotional discounts.

Plan Billed monthly Billed annually Intended for
    Core $119.99 $1,079.88 a year (about $89.99 a month) Individual sellers
Advanced $159.99 $1,799.88 a year (about $149.99 a month) Sales teams of 2 or more
Advanced Plus Custom quote Custom quote Teams of 10 or more using an integrated CRM

Annual billing saves 25% on Core and about 6% on Advanced. On annual billing, Advanced costs $720 more per seat per year than Core, and five Advanced seats cost $8,999.40 a year. Up to five Advanced licenses can be bought online. Advanced Plus is priced by team size, CRM integration and onboarding needs, through a quote from LinkedIn’s sales team.

Sales Navigator charges per seat for access. Data providers charge per record. BizProspex lists its CTO email list at $200 for 1,250 records, $300 for 2,500 and $500 for 5,000, which is $0.16, $0.12 and $0.10 per lead, on a page updated in September 2026. Prices differ by dataset, so request a quote for your own target list and add it to your seat cost.

Does LinkedIn Sales Navigator show email addresses and phone numbers?

LinkedIn’s help center states that the contact and personal details of connections appear in the introduction section only when the member opts to share them. Details a member enters in the Contact Info section are visible to first-degree connections only, and a webpage, blog URL or Twitter handle may be visible to all members. Profiles outside your network, the usual targets of prospecting, fall outside that visibility.

InMail, alerts, TeamLink and warm introductions reach people inside LinkedIn, which works when the buyer answers there. Email and phone outreach needs those fields in a file that loads into a CRM or a sales engagement tool.

The fields on BizProspex’s CTO email list, one of its role-based email lists, are contact name, title, email, phone number, city, country, postal code and street address, subject to availability. The list downloads as CSV, Excel or text files. Before buying from any provider, request a sample and count how many records include each field.

Can you export data from Sales Navigator?

Sales Navigator has no CSV or XLS export. LinkedIn’s help center states that it does not offer an export of account and lead information to those file types.

Advanced Plus users can sync accounts with a supported CRM. LinkedIn names Salesforce, HubSpot Smart CRM, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Oracle Sales for its CRM integrations.

Data can enter Sales Navigator by file. Advanced and Advanced Plus users can upload a CSV of accounts, which then produce alerts and intent signals. The upload accepts account lists only, and lead lists are excluded.

A team on Core or Advanced has no built-in way to move a lead list into a CRM, so it copies details by hand or orders the contacts from a provider. LinkedIn’s help center lists scraping software and browser extensions among prohibited tools, and states that accounts using them can be restricted.

How many InMail credits does Sales Navigator include?

Every plan includes 50 InMail credits a month, and LinkedIn does not sell extra credits. Unused credits accumulate up to 150. A credit comes back when the recipient responds within 90 days, and auto-replies count as responses.

Fifty credits a month works out to about 12 InMails a week (50 divided by 4.33 weeks). A rep who messages 20 new people a day outside their network over 21 working days needs 420 messages, so InMail covers about one in eight of them.

Connection requests use a separate allowance, and LinkedIn’s compare plans page lists no figure for it. Check the limit shown in your own account before planning outreach volume.

What happens to saved data if you cancel Sales Navigator?

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current subscription period: the end of the paid year on an annual plan, or the end of the current month on a monthly plan.

LinkedIn’s pages do not say what happens to saved data, lists and searches after that date. Copy what you need into your CRM or a spreadsheet before the end date, and confirm the details with LinkedIn support. Advanced Plus teams can sync data to the CRM. Other teams copy them by hand.

What does a B2B data provider add to Sales Navigator?

A B2B data provider sells files of people and companies that include the contact fields LinkedIn shows only for members who share them. BizProspex states that it builds its datasets through its own sourcing pipelines and research teams, owns its data and does not resell third-party databases. Its catalog covers six needs that a Sales Navigator user has:

    • Contact records: email lists by job title, such as CEO, CFO, CTO, HR and VP.
    • Hiring signals: job postings data with 400M+ postings in its global database, 8M+ new jobs added a month, 150+ countries and 30+ fields per record. Files arrive as CSV or Excel, or through an API. Open roles show which companies are adding staff in the departments that buy your product.
    • Funding signals: funding data with lists of recently funded startups and VC investors.
    • Technology and event signals: technology user lists for Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics CRM and SAP users, and trade show exhibitor lists for events such as CES, MWC Barcelona and Arab Health.
    • Completing a list you already hold: email appending and phone appending add emails and phone numbers to names you already have.
    • Checking your CRM: a free CRM data health check for the records already in your CRM.Barcelona,

BizProspex publishes a 98% accuracy guarantee. A record reported as incorrect within seven days is corrected and verified twice before it is delivered again, and a pro-rated refund applies if the error remains. Hard-bounced emails and incorrect phone numbers reported within seven days are replaced. The terms are on its written accuracy guarantee.

Shared connections, TeamLink introductions, Buyer Intent and alerts on LinkedIn activity stay with Sales Navigator. BizProspex’s catalog lists no equivalent.

What are the main Sales Navigator alternatives for contact data?

Evaluate all alternatives using the three voids as documented by LinkedIn’s own website; member-shared data determines your contact information availability, there is no export option (CSV/XLS) for the platform data, and syncing CRM will require an additional paid feature.

An external provider of contact data completes these voids when they provide you with a downloadable file containing all fields, which you may then import into another program.

BizProspex does this by providing users with the ability to download their CSV/Excel/text file output, also provides users with a complimentary sample ranging from 10 to 100 records, and has written terms defining the accuracy of the provided contact data.

Ask every vendor you are comparing to BizProspex for the same three items: sample, accuracy terms, and field listing per record.

How do you use Sales Navigator and a B2B data provider together?

    • Build lead and account lists in Sales Navigator with filters and alerts.
    • Get contact records for those prospects. Advanced Plus teams sync the lists to the CRM. Core and Advanced teams copy names and companies by hand to a provider, or order a dataset for the same roles and regions.
    • Run a CRM data health check, then load the returned records into your CRM.
    • On Advanced or Advanced Plus, upload the provider’s company list to Sales Navigator as a CSV of accounts, so alerts and TeamLink paths cover the same accounts as your records.
    • Watch job change alerts in Sales Navigator and update the matching CRM records.

Which should you choose: Sales Navigator, a B2B data provider or both?

    • Solo seller whose buyers are active on LinkedIn: Core covers search, InMail and alerts at about $89.99 a month on annual billing.
    • Team of 2 to 9 working named accounts: Advanced adds AI research and TeamLink, and a dataset supplies the contact fields, since Advanced has no CRM sync.
    • Team of 10 or more on Salesforce, HubSpot, Dynamics 365 or Oracle Sales: Advanced Plus syncs data to the CRM, and a dataset supplies the contact fields.
    • Team that sells by email and phone, or whose buyers rarely use LinkedIn: start with a data provider and add Sales Navigator later for the reps who work warm introductions.

What should you test before you pay for either tool?

Run the 50-contact test. Pick 50 people you want to reach, open each in Sales Navigator and count how many show a work email or phone number, keeping first-degree connections and out-of-network prospects in separate counts. Send the same 50 names to a provider for a free sample and count what comes back. The difference between the two counts is the contact data you would be buying.

Then compare your weekly target of new contacts per rep with about 12 InMails a week plus the connection request limit shown in your account.

Before you sign with a provider, ask who verifies each record, what happens to hard-bounced emails, whether the provider collects its own data and which privacy laws it follows. BizProspex states that AI and human reviewers check its records, that its processes align with GDPR and CCPA, and that it holds ISO 27001 certification.

Our verdict: which should you buy first?

Buy contact records first. A rep who sells by email or phone sends nothing until a lead has an address or a number, and Sales Navigator shows those to first-degree connections who chose to share them. A free sample of 10 to 100 records lets you check the fit before you pay.

Buy Sales Navigator Advanced second, for the reps who work named accounts and warm introductions. Buyer Intent, TeamLink, warm paths in search, and job change alerts come from LinkedIn, and BizProspex lists no equivalent. Solo sellers whose buyers spend the day on LinkedIn can start with Core alone.

Run the 50-contact test on your own list this week. If a provider sample covers more of the 50 than Sales Navigator does, records come first. If the two counts match, Sales Navigator Advanced comes first.

To run the test with BizProspex, request a free sample and match it against the contacts you already hold, or talk to the BizProspex team about a dataset for your roles and regions.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    1. What changed in LinkedIn Sales Navigator in 2026?

LinkedIn added conversational plain-language search, expanded alerts, and AI features like Lead IQ and Account IQ. However, despite these platform upgrades, Sales Navigator remains fundamentally locked down: it still does not provide direct phone numbers, business email addresses, or native list export capabilities, forcing teams to use external data solutions anyway.

    2. Is Sales Assistant available to every Sales Navigator user?

No, new AI assistants like Sales Assistant are currently gated in limited betas or restricted to higher tiers. More importantly, regardless of which Sales Navigator tier you purchase, you still run into strict platform walls, such as capped InMail credits and hard limits on connection requests.

    3. Is there a free trial for LinkedIn Sales Navigator?

Yes, eligible users can test Core or Advanced tiers. However, a free trial highlights the platform’s immediate limitations: you quickly realize that while you can view profiles, you cannot export contact lists or run automated email cadences without adding third-party tools to your tech stack.

    4. How many people can use Sales Navigator Advanced, and does it solve team data sharing?

Advanced and Advanced Plus fit teams ranging from 2 to 10+ users, but sharing data across accounts is clunky. Because LinkedIn treats saved data and searches as individual user assets rather than centralized company databases, team collaboration on prospecting lists remains restricted compared to a shared B2B data repository.

    5. Does Sales Navigator work with my CRM?

CRM integrations (like Salesforce or HubSpot) are heavily restricted. Core and Advanced plans include no CRM sync at all, forcing you to upgrade to expensive Advanced Plus tiers just to get basic integration functionality. Even then, you still have to manually bridge the gap for missing emails and direct dials.

    6. Does Sales Navigator support regulated industries?

While LinkedIn offers compliance archiving partners for financial services, its core platform mechanics create compliance risks for outbound teams. Because reps are tempted to use unauthorized browser scrapers to extract emails from LinkedIn, companies often face account bans and security vulnerabilities that clean, compliant B2B databases entirely avoid.

    7. Can you scrape or export data from Sales Navigator?

No. LinkedIn strictly prohibits scraping, browser extensions, and bulk exporting. Attempting to pull lists out of Sales Navigator violates their User Agreement and risks permanent account suspension. This is precisely why sales teams rely on pre-built B2B data providers for clean, fully exportable, and compliant contact lists.

    8. Can you email contacts bought from a data provider?

Yes, as long as you adhere to regional compliance laws like the FTC’s CAN-SPAM rules in the US (which require accurate sender details, a valid postal address, and a working opt-out link). Using structured datasets from providers like BizProspex allows you to feed compliant, verified business emails straight into your outbound sequencing tools without risking your personal social profile.

    9. Is Sales Navigator worth it for one seller?

At over $1,000 a year for Core billing, solo sellers often find the ROI hard to justify when factoring in all the hidden costs. Because Sales Navigator doesn’t provide email addresses, phone numbers, or export capabilities, a single seller usually has to pay for a separate email-finder tool in addition to their LinkedIn subscription.

    10. What languages does Sales Navigator support versus global B2B databases?

Sales Navigator supports seven interface languages, but its regional data accuracy depends heavily on how often international users update their profiles. Dedicated B2B data providers like BizProspex offer granular global data, including job titles, technographics, and verified contact info across 15+ data fields, giving you immediate, ready-to-use target lists without waiting for a prospect to accept a connection request.
